1- Isn't it much too hot to cycle in the tropics?
Probably your biggest surprise here. It isn't. Not if one is into cycling,
that is. Riding a bicycle is a very comfortable way of motion in a
tropical environment. When cycling, you always feel a slight breeze
to cool you down a bit. Walking a is much hotter activity. When you
walk, you don't create a slight breeze as you do whilst cycling. Besides,
Bangkok is as flat as a pancake. No steep slopes to climb anywhere.
2- What kind of clothing should I wear?
We recommend a baseball cap. Or a hat to keep the sun out of your face.
Light cotton clothing is very good. And please wear 'closed' shoes
(as opposed to sandals or slippers).
3- Should I bring drinking water?
Don't. We take care of that. It's an all inclusive tour.
4- What about the strong sun?
Thailand is very close to the equator. The sun is quite strong here, true
enough. That's why we recommend to wear something on your head. Like
a baseball cap or a hat. Sunglasses are a good idea, and so is applying
a strong sunblocker
5- Are the mosquitos going to feast on me?
Problaby something you find remarkable: most people are surprised by
the absence of mosquitos. Why? Ask Co privately by e-mail.
6- Are you open all-year round?
Yes, we most certainly are. Tours are daily, every day and on request.
7- Is it possible to ride a bicycle during the wet season?
First of all Thailand doesn't really have a 'wet' or monsoon
season. We do have a rainy period though. Most of the time you will experience
dry sunny weather. Our 15 year experience tells us that most rain falls
in the evening or the night. We have never cancelled a tour because of
rain in fhose 15 years. Besides, rain can be a very local affair here:
it might rain next to your hotel, and be dry all day long where we do
the tour.
If it does rain, it usually doesn't rain very long. Short showers last
anything from 10 minutes to a haf an hour. If it starts raining, we seek
shelter and during the rainy season our guides always have ponchos available.
For us, every day of the year is excellent cycling weather!
8- Can I take pictures or videotape everyhere?
Nobody has had any objections so far. The local population likes
our guests
(that might be you too!) a lot, and is very friendly.
They really like it when you take pictures or videotape, especially
their children. The same applies to the various temples, shrines and spiritual
centers we pass along our route.
9- Bagage during the tour?
Just take what you need, and no more. Try to limit your baggage to
sunblocker, a camera and some spare batteries. If you have something
you'd on second thoughts rather not take along, we have a safe place
to store it.
