To celebrate the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne, the Grand China Princess Hotel, Bangkok and Co Van Kessel Tours are organising a charity cycling tour. On the "Bicycle 60" trek, to take place on June 10, cyclists will ride 60 kilometres around Bangkok and beyond, visiting some 60 temples along the way.
Participants will explore the landmarks surrounding Bangkok during the exciting journey by bicycle. Departing from the Royal Princess Srinakarin hotel at 7am, the bicycle route passes through such familiar temples as Wat Yang and Wat Bang, as well as mosques, churches, Chinese temples and shrines. The cycling route also passes through villages on the outskirts of Bangkok.
After lunch at a Thai restaurant, cyclists will continue their travels on board a boat for some sightseeing on the Chao Phraya River, and taking them to Wat Kang Kao to continue their cycling tour. Next stop is Chinatown and the flower market. Estimated arrival time at the Grand China Princess hotel is around 6pm. This journey promises to be a fun and exciting adventure, and you will discover many places that are "hidden secrets" and off the beaten track for most tourists. All proceeds of Bicycle 60 will be donated to the Siam-Care Foundation for disadvantaged people, particularly those infected with HIV.
The fee for joining the Bicycle 60 tour is 2,000 baht per person, which includes a polo shirt, cap, lunch and drinks during the tour. The bicycles and licensed tour guides will also be provided, although participants wishing to bring their own bicycles may do so. Transfers from other hotels in Bangkok to the Royal Princess Srinakarin hotel starting point can also be arranged.
If you wish to participate, either individually or as a group, call the Co van Kessel Bangkok Tour office in the Grand China Princess hotel on: 02-688-99 33
