Special: Isaan homestay
Designed for the fan of our bicycle tours who wish to continue their search for the REAL Thailand outside of Bangkok, the Isaan Country Homestay program will give them an unfiltered insight into the lives of the rural Thai in the Northeastern region of Isaan. Located in the remote province of Nakhon Phanom, hugging the Mekong River and the Laos border, the region is rarely frequented by tourists and contains a diverse blend of ethnic peoples who live a simple, subsistence lifestyle.
Participants in this program will be witness to a rural way of life bereft of most modern conveniences. They will also be invited to participate in daily rituals and farming activities alongside the locals while living in their actual homes. Through this experience, visitors will have a rare opportunity to explore a little known area of Thailand from an insiders point of view and will leave with a new appreciation for what it means to be “khon Isaan” (Isaan people).
The Isaan Country Homestay program was developed following the principles of socially responsible tourism with the goal of uplifting impoverished rural communities by providing them a source of income while also giving them a renewed sense of pride in their lifestyle and culture. As such, the majority of the proceeds from the tour will go directly back to the families in the local communities for their efforts while the remainder will be used to fund our “Cycle to School” initiative which will benefit the local youth in these same areas.
Four set departure dates are offered on an annual basis for the Isaan Country Homestay program with special-request departure times available for larger groups.
